Compact Air Handling Unit Solution

Compact Air Handling Unit Solution for a Data Centre (91)

Essonne (91)
Customer
The issue

In optimising the critical infrastructure of a data centre located in Essonne (91), our client required a compact, high-performance, and eco-efficient air handling solution for its IT rooms

Our intervention

6 x compact air handling units (AHUs), optimised for:

  • Heat recovery: Reuse of extracted heat for fresh air preheat, maximising energy efficiency via recuperative or regenerative systems.
  • Precise temperature and humidity control: Intelligent PID regulation to sustain stable supply air temperature and relative humidity setpoint
  • Positive pressure maintenance: Variable speed fans (e.g., EC fans) to generate slight overpressure in rooms, safeguarding sensitive IT equipment from particulates.
  • Optimised fresh air supply: Modulated fresh air volume flowrate to match real-time demand, with supply air quality compliant with EN 13779 standards for ventilation in non-residential buildings

Our challenge

The requirements were multifaceted:

  • Maintain stable environmental conditions (temperature and humidity) to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Provide positive pressure in the rooms to prevent ingress of dust and contaminants.
  • Incorporate heat recovery to enhance site energy efficiency.
  • Deliver high-quality fresh air while minimising both operational and energy costs.

To address these challenges, our team engineered a bespoke solution combining state-of-the-art technology with a compact footprint to meet the data centre's specific demands.
