Understanding your industry challenges
Historically, educational establishments have used boilers to heat classrooms and ancillary premises.
ETT, a pioneer in decarbonisation since its inception, offers innovative alternatives to traditional gas boilers with its range of heat pumps:
ECOPS was the first range of thermo-frigo-pumps running on R290 refrigerant (propane with a GWP of 3) developed back in 2015.
The NEROMAX range is the very latest generation of AIR/WATER heat pumps (2 pipes, reversible) and its NEROMAX HT version (hot water production up to 70°C), which can also supply domestic hot water.
When it comes to indoor air quality in teaching premises, the PACARE (double-flow heat pump) has long been the leading product for supplying fresh air. In the same role, our X-RCAM, the latest product from ETT R&D, improves energy performance by up to 30%.
For higher education establishments, the ULTI+ RE and ULTI+ RE DX (with recovery wheel) 4-vane ranges alone handle the heating, air conditioning and supply of hygienic fresh air required by regulations for lecture theatres and auditoriums. They are suitable for diffusion by air displacement or induction.
To sum up, our solutions ensure:
- Indoor Air Quality,
- Heating,
- Air-conditioning,
- Ventilation,
- Low-carbon production of domestic water
- Reducing the overall carbon footprint of the school building,
- Communication of equipment via JBUS, IP or Bacnet IP to your BMS.
ETT's solutions for meeting airflow and economic challenges integrate various functions:
Heat exchangers are frequently used to preheat fresh air. ETT offers a wide range of technologies, including plate, rotary, heat pipe and glycol water heat exchangers.
The most suitable system for optimising the energy efficiency of air handling systems according to room occupancy, and therefore the regulatory fresh air requirement.
Air quality is an important factor for operator comfort and production quality, requiring equipment for:
- Particule and molecular filtration
- Fresh air management
The purpose of this function is to use outside air to cool a room when conditions are favourable.

Regulations
Educational establishments are subject to strict obligations regarding Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), aimed at ensuring a healthy environment for students and staff. Monitoring IAQ is now a public health imperative, with specific legal obligations for establishments open to the public.
Law no. 2010-788 of 12 July 2010, known as the ‘Grenelle II Law’, marked a key milestone by requiring IAQ monitoring in school buildings, followed by specific decrees:
- Decree no. 2011-1728 of 2 December 2011, defining the establishments concerned and the gradual introduction of monitoring obligations for pollutants such as carbon dioxide (CO₂), formaldehyde and benzene ;
- Decree no. 2015-1926 of 30 December 2015, setting the limit values for these pollutants and the monitoring procedures;
- Decree no. 2015-1000 of 17 August 2015, which specifies air renewal requirements, measurement methods and mandatory corrective actions if thresholds are exceeded.
.
These regulations aim to create a school environment conducive to health and well-being, by ensuring that the air breathed in classrooms and other premises complies with quality standards. At ETT, we are committed to providing educational establishments with air treatment solutions that meet regulatory requirements and allow reliable monitoring of air quality.
