Here's how ETT is revolutionizing cinema comfort
Enhancing the cinematic experience: Beyond cutting-edge projection technology, a cinema's quality is measured by the comfort it provides.
ETT understands that for true immersion, viewers shouldn't be distracted by drafts, lingering odours, or background noise.
Our high-quality air handling systems eliminate these issues entirely.
What's more, as a cinema is a closed space with no opening, where occupancy varies constantly according to the number of screenings, the regulations require minimum outdoor fresh air intake rates depending on the occupancy rate to ensure a minimum level of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) for users.
ETT's innovative "4-damper" heat pump (CINEFFI R32 range) increases energy efficiency as hygienic fresh air needs increases.
Its cinema-specific controls maintain ideal temperatures year-round and adjust fresh air flow based on occupancy using in-theater air quality sensors. This ensures regulatory compliance and optimal air quality while maximizing energy savings. Preference is also given to free-cooling.
In this way, regulations are complied with and the automatic renewal of ambient air with healthy air ensures the expected olfactory comfort. In addition, optimising the supply of hygienic fresh air depending on whether the room is full or lightly occupied is the most effective way of reducing energy costs.
Tailored Air Distribution CINEFFI R32 units integrate seamlessly with either "induction" (nozzle-based) or "displacement" (under-seat) air distribution systems. Both methods guarantee even temperatures and draft-free comfort throughout the theater.
Ultra-quiet operation featuring some of the market's quietest fans, CINEFFI R32 units eliminate acoustic pollution in the projection room.
Flexible Installation and Retrofitting: ETT works closely with cinema operators to integrate systems into tight technical spaces, even modernizing outdated equipment that can't be easily removed.
Addressing rising energy costs: in response to soaring energy prices and environmental regulations, ETT helps cinema operators reduce operating costs and decarbonize through:
- MTAC supervision system that optimizes peak consumption based on electrical contracts (defrost cycles, for example),
- SIC (Self Intuitive Control): New regulation system proven to cut electricity use by 30% on average across France,
- Low-GWP R32 refrigerant: Compliant with HFC regulations,
- Unit with an adiabatic cooling module specially designed for lobbies: Reduces compressor runtime through evaporative cooling,
- Remote energy monitoring and optimization services via our Energy Performance Contracts.
Choosing ETT ensures:
- Industry-leading thermal performance for heating and cooling,
- Regulatory-compliant fresh air management for optimal Indoor Air Quality,
- Significant operating cost reductions,
- A smaller carbon footprint.
ETT's solutions for meeting the aeraulic and economic challenges of cinema complexes include various functions:
The most suitable system for optimising the energy efficiency of air handling systems according to room occupancy, and therefore the regulatory fresh air requirement.
This is one of the main constraints in cinemas, since noise pollution has a direct impact on the spectator's experience.
ETT has a wide range of technical solutions to combat noise pollution from air handling systems.
ETT has developed a remote supervision tool integrated into their machines. The aim is to provide operators with monitoring capabilities for their machines, and to enable ETT to provide fast and reliable expertise. Other services have also been integrated.
This functionality aims to use outdoor air to cool a space when conditions are favourable.
This advanced supervision platform, combined with ETT's high-efficiency heat pumps, allows cinema operators to significantly reduce energy costs while maintaining optimal comfort conditions year-round.
The intelligent control system continuously adapts machine operation to optimize energy efficiency in real-time.
Heat exchangers are frequently used to preheat fresh air. ETT offers a wide range of technologies, including plate, rotary, heat pipe and glycol water heat exchangers.

Regulations
As establishments open to the public, cinemas must comply with the safety regulations governing fire and panic risks in establishments open to the public.
The PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) must be complied with, as must the FGAS.
Health regulations, in particular the minimum 18 m3/h of hygienic fresh air per person.
Air-conditioning equipment must comply with the ECODESIGN minimum performance levels.
Installation:
- ETT recommends compliance with EN 378-3
